Meet and hear more from Chelsea Gann of The Voice Season 10

Her audition: Chelsea Gann, 27, of Liberty Mounds, Okla., auditioned with Martina McBride’s “Wild Angels” in a performance that was part of a montage package, meaning we only saw a tiny snippet of it. But it earned her a spot on Team Christina.

Her background: According to her bio on The Voice website, Chelsea’s mom recorded gospel music for music of her life. Chelsea, who grew up in a town of 500 people, began singing in church with her mom. She auditioned for The Voice twice previously and failed to make it past the open calls. She tried for the third time at the urging of her mother.

What the show didn’t show:

She calls Martina McBride her favorite artist and says she felt honored to be able to audition with one of her songs.

In a conference call with the media, Chelsea admitted to battled some nerves during the blind audition. “But there’s just an overwhelming sense of excitement and gratitude and such a blessing,” she said of the experience.”

She said lots of friends and family gathered at the focal point of town in Liberty Mounds — the Tigers Den — to watch the airing of her blind audition. “It was amazing how many people took time out their busy day to do that,” she said.

Except for church and sporting events at Liberty High School, she says there aren’t many opportunities to perform in Liberty Mounds. So she travels to Tulsa to perform with other people and with bands.

She says she’s also performed the national anthem at “tons of events,” many of them at the BOK (Bank of Oklahoma) Center in Tulsa.

As for being a country singer on Team Christina, Chelsea says: Being on her team is extremely flattering for me, because even though we don’t sing the same genre of music, she understands music itself. And to be taught by her has just been a really cool experience because not everybody can say that they’ve learned from Christina Aguilera.”
