His audition: We saw just a tiny snippet of it, but Jacob Poole, 30, of Water Robins, Ga., sang “Marry Me” and wound up with a spot on Team Christina.

His background: The Voice website tells us that Jacob grew up singing in his father’s church and now serves as leader of the church band. Two years ago, he moved back to his hometown after spending some time in Los Angeles looking for his big break.

On being on Team Christina: “With her incredible ability to sing and her world renown voice, it makes me feel like she’s going to push me to be a better performer.”

What the show didn’t show: Jacob says he grew up around gospel and Christian music influences, but spent some time in Atlanta writing and recording for the same company that signed R&B group Jagged Edge. “I started with R&B but moved into pop/rock, which is more what I am and the sound I go for,” Jacob said in a conference call the day after his audition aired. “I do a pop rock inspirational style of music.” In November 2010, Jacob released a 5-track self-titled EP, featuring the single, “Fearless.” He’s also currently a member of the worship/Christian group Love24, which has released a pair of singles to iTunes, “Captured” and “Shining,” both in 2012. His father’s church is New Hope International, where Jacob oversees the performing arts department and leads a worship service for more than 3,000 congregants. According to his website, Jacob plans to release a new solo single called “Come Alive” next spring.

Quote: “I feel like the reason I’m on this earth is to bring music — and not only just music, but inspirational music that changes people’s lives and touches their hearts.”

On iTunes: The aforementioned EP, the two singles with Love24 and the full-length studio version of his Voice audition song.

I recently visited a church on East Hallandale blvd. Potential Church and to my great surprise, the great voice leading worship was that of Jacob Poole live. That young man can really sing and inspire.
