Season 5, The Voice

Meet Josh Logan of Team Christina on The Voice

The audition: Josh Logan, 33, of Manchester, N.H., sang “Too Close,” the Alex Clare hit. Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera turned around before he hit the first chorus. Adam Levine soon joined them, leaving Cee Lo as the only coach facing in the opposite direction when the song ended. “He can do it all,” Christina said of Josh’s vocals. And so Josh decided to join Team Christina.

His background: Josh says he makes his living through music, calling himself a “six-nights-a-week, three-sets-a-night” type of performer. It wasn’t always that way. At one point, he worked construction to supplement his income from music. He got his start early, saying he’d tag along at age 8 with his mother when she did deejay and karaoke type gigs.  She let him help out, and he said he’s been on stage ever since.

On picking Christina: Josh admitted he was hoping Cee Lo would turn around because he considers himself an R&B/soul artist. “He’s like the perfect kind of cat for me.” Still, he said he felt blessed to have three coaches to choose from. “When Blake and Adam were going back and forth being goofy and Christina was kind of steadfast looking me in the eye very — like very serious about what she wanted to offer me and what she thought I was capable of. I felt that she was the one that was really taking me seriously at that point. And I don’t know, my gut just said to go with it, so I just went with my gut.”

What the show didn’t show: Josh released an album called “Josh Logan and Nobody’s Business” back in 2006, but it no longer seems to be available. He released a self-titled 8-track EP called “Gone Tomorrow, Here Today” last March. That includes “Painful Breath,” a track that features Tommy Lee of Motley Crue fame. Tommy Lee also happened to be a judge on the TV competition “Rock Star: Supernova” when Josh was a contestant back in 2006 and cracked the top 15. Judging from his Facebook bio, Josh started performing in bands at age 15 as front man for a group called “Gunshy.”

Quote: “(Playing bars) has been great to hone my chops and to get, you know, my voice where I needed it to be and I made a lot of friends and gained a lot of support from that. So I’m just going to utilize all the good aspects from all the gigs that I’ve done and hopefully it’ll take me to the next level with this competition.”

On iTunes: His 2012 EP is available.
