Bryana SalazHer audition: Bryana Salaz, 16, of San Antonio, Texas, auditioned with Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” showing off tons of potential and charisma. She quickly had Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani facing in her direction. Gwen calls her a “little sparkly princess girl” and says she couldn’t “touch” what Bryana has when she was her age. Bryana opts to join Team Gwen.

Her background: Bryana’s dad is in the military, which means her family has moved about every two years. She says her mom and sister signed her up for a military singing competition when she was 12 years old. “I just fell in love with it (singing),” she says. Since then, she’s done lots of other singing competition, but says “nothing really compares to The Voice.” Her dad is working through an illness and couldn’t attend her audition, but she was wearing a necklace he gave her as a good luck charm.

What the show didn’t show: She goes by Bry and has turned 17 since auditioning. This isn’t her first shot at a TV talent show. In 2011, she made it to the Vegas finals on America’s Got Talent. She also honed her skills during the two years her dad was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, according to a story in the San Antonio Express-Times. She was a performer at Sea World, where she danced and sang in seven different shows in what she called “the best job in the world.” As for joining Team Gwen, Bryana says: “I would love for her to pull something out of me, when you hear it, it’s like, ‘Hey, that’s Bryana.’ You know, something individual, something original. What better person to help you be original than Gwen Stefani?”

On iTunes: Just her Voice audition song, “Problem.” But head to Soundcloud and you’ll find her covers of four tunes, including “Titanium” and “Rumor Has It.”
